Bench Seasoning Wax

$16.00

The Bench Seasoning Wax is a 100 g tin of grapeseed oil and beeswax for keeping carbon steel and bare iron seasoned. A pea-sized amount rubbed over a warm pan is one seasoning, so the tin lasts through months of Forge skillets and the bare cooking surfaces of the Hearth skillets and grill pan. It contains no flaxseed oil, which flakes.

Keep the lid on and store it cool. It is not for the enameled interiors of the Hearth Dutch ovens and braiser, and stainless Bright pans do not need it.

Questions

How much do I use per pan? A pea-sized amount on a warm, dry pan, wiped until the surface looks dry, then heated until it stops smoking. The Forge Skillet 8 in takes less; the Forge Wok 12 in a little more.

How do I store the tin? Lid on, somewhere cool. The wax softens near the stove and firms up again; that does not change it.

Which pans is it for? Every Forge piece and the bare surfaces of the Hearth skillets and Hearth Grill Pan 10 in. The Bench Care Kit includes the same 100 g tin with a chainmail scrubber and cloth.
